According to local officials, a 4-year-old fell off a 70-foot cliff at Red River Gorge in eastern Kentucky. Luckily, the child only suffered a few minor scratches and some bruises and managed to walk away with no severe injuries. Kentucky rescuers are truly astonished by the outcomes of this peculiar incident.

As reported by the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team, last Friday, the boy was hiking with his parents near Princess Arch, where he slipped and fell down the cliff, hitting ‘multiple ledges’ before landing about 70 feet below. Notably, upon the arrival of the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team on the scene, they were happy and relieved to discover that the boy was alert and even talking. Drew Stevens, a spokesperson for Wolfe County Search and Rescue, gave a comment to the press, saying:

“Miraculously, the child was relatively unscathed. He’s kind of scraped up and bruised but otherwise generally unhurt.”

The child was taken to a hospital in order to be further examined, in accordance with what Stevens has reported.

Unsurprisingly, the sandstone arches and towering cliffs in the 42,000-acre geological area southeast of Lexington is a beloved hiking territory that welcomes hundreds of thousands of hikers, rock climbers, kayakers and campers each year. The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team then made a post on their Facebook page, in which they described the Daniel Boone National Forest incident. The team wrote:

“Just after 2:00 p.m. today, WCSART deployed on a mission that would result in nothing short of a miracle.”

The NY post mentioned that the child was hiking with his parents in the area when he slipped away from his family and ‘took a tumbling fall off of a cliff.’ Reportedly, during this horrendous fall, the kid flew a total of 70 feet and hit multiple ledges on his way down.

Terrified father immediately sprang into action and scrambled down the cliff face to his son. He then carried the boy up and went downhill with him, across a suspension bridge, before joining the emergency team at Highway 715.

As we have already mentioned, by some miracle, the boy was almost completely unharmed despite being ‘scraped up and bruised,’ as stated in the Facebook post of the rescuers. The team also added that the boy was ‘very talkative’ and ‘very interested in super heroes,’ noting that ‘the only super hero present was him.’

Notably, this wasn’t the first time a kid has defied a certain death. Last week, in China, a child was run over by a combine harvester and came away virtually unscathed.
