According to Laura Tranter, the incident happened on Saturday, when she woke up at 5:30 in order to use the loo. She said:
“It scared the hell out of me… I woke up at half-past five in the morning to go to the toilet, and it was just there.”
Laura, a native of Stourbridge, recounted with terror in her voice. Reportedly, the woman ‘nearly sat on the thing’ without realizing the danger. Laura said: “Its head was just resting on the seat.”
Of course, a video of this peculiar occasion had been made and then released to the media. The footage demonstrates the massive 4-foot python coiled in the bowl like a sentient plumber’s snake.
At first, Laura Tranter thought she imagined the whole thing, presumably, in part because pythons aren’t native to the UK. The woman told the press: “I shut the toilet door and thought, have I really seen that, so I double-checked if it was real — but I really thought I was hallucinating.”
It’s rather sad and unfortunate that the local reptile rescue service didn’t open until 7 a.m. on weekends, so the frightened woman went to her friend’s house and shared the awful story that had just happened to her. As Laura Tranter told the reporters about her friend’s reaction: “She was so confused, she asked if I’d been drinking.”
Luckily, she enlisted a pair of herpetology enthusiasts named Dave and Steve, who could help to remove the invader reptilian from the poor woman’s toilet.
Yet, as it turned out, the snake was a victim itself, since it had actually become trapped inside loo, according to Laura’s story. Eventually, the freelance animal rescuers managed to extract the poor creature by pouring soap down the toilet, aiming to lubricate the bowl, and then literally flushing the animal out.
It remains to be unknown how exactly the python managed to get to the plumbing. However, Laura says: “Steve and Dan think that someone might have let it out after keeping it as a pet and deciding they didn’t want it, and it had got into the sewer somehow… I still can’t get my head around it, I really can’t.”
After the incident Laura handed the reptile over to the reptile rescue service. The story sounds quite disturbing, yet, it could have been worse, like, for instance, last September, a Thai teen was hospitalized after a snake sank its fangs into his penis while the kid was on the toilet.
