A Pennsylvania woman was charged Thursday with stealing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s laptop during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, reports said. Riley Williams, 22, was also accused of selling or getting rid of the Hewlett-Packard computer, which has yet to be found, according to KDKA-TV of Pittsburgh.

Williams was captured in January after investigators saw cellphone video, allegedly recorded by her, that supposedly showed her grabbing the laptop from Pelosi’s office during the riot but the Justice Department waited eight months to officially indict her.

Video recorded inside the Capitol features a woman, whom prosecutors say is Williams, saying "Dude, put on gloves," as a gloved hand grabs the laptop from Pelosi's desk.

The suspect was freed on home confinement with an ankle monitor, United Press International reported.

Witnesses have told investigators Williams planned to sell the laptop, possibly to another government. The suspect denied those accusations, which investigators have not said they have corroborated.

"[Witness 1] stated that WILLIAMS intended to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, who then planned to sell the device to SVR, Russia’s foreign intelligence service," an investigator said, according to Politico. "According to [Witness 1], the transfer of the computer device to Russia fell through for unknown reasons and WILLIAMS still has the computer device or destroyed it."

Williams faces other felony and misdemeanor counts, including a new one for resisting or attacking police, UPI reported.

Williams is one of more than 50 people from Pennsylvania and hundreds of suspects from across the country who have been arrested in connection with the riot, KDKA reported.

The FBI also alleged that a social media account with the user name "Riley" posted about having stolen from Pelosi and taken her "hard drives."

In January, the FBI announced it opened an investigation into the theft of Pelosi's laptop after a tipster identified Williams in a video from the Capitol and said she intended to send the computer device to a friend in Russia, who then suggested selling the device to that country's foreign intelligence service.

The tipster added that the transfer "fell through" and Williams either held onto the laptop or destroyed it.

Williams later surrendered to authorities but was released into the custody of her mother and ordered to stay confined in the Harrisburg, Pa., home they share, while being fitted with a GPS monitoring device awaiting further actions in the case.

An attorney for Williams said she changed her phone number after the riots at the direction of a police officer examining claims of abuse by her former boyfriend, who gave the tip identifying Williams to the FBI.
