Texas officials are getting ready for an inherent wave of more than 60,000 Haitian migrants at the border with Mexico, according to the Washington Examiner.

The outlet issued that flooded federal Border Patrol agents have been pulled from border duty to treat those already in arrest. In many regions, the move has left the border spontaneously, the Examiner said.

Texas officials have attempted to cover the absence of the federal patrols along the border. State government and law enforcement leaders spent the weekend planning for a possible rush of more than 60,000 Haitian migrants, the Examiner reported.

Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted on Saturday: "Texas National Guard is gearing up at the border for increased caravans attempting to cross the border caused by Biden’s open border policy. They are working with the Texas Dept. of Public Safety to seal surge locations at the border & arrest trespassers."

Renae Eze, a spokeswoman for Abbott, stressed Texas has put thousands of National Guard and Department of Public Safety troopers to the border over the past seven months.

The migrants are not moving as a single group or caravan. Instead, they are working with cartels to move through Central America and Mexico to enter the U.S., the Examiner said.

Panama Foreign Minister Erika Mouynes, who was irritated that the Biden administration apparently overlooked her country's warnings for months about the last wave of migrants that ended up under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, has predicted that as many as 60,000 more migrants, mostly Haitians, are headed for the U.S. southern border.

"We sounded the alarm when we should have," Mouynes told Axios. Last week, she terminated two days of meetings in Washington with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., saying the worst is "yet to come," has warned that as many as 120,000 migrants are now headed to the U.S.

Juan Gonzalez, the US National Security Council’s director for the Western Hemisphere, gave his statement during an official two-day trip to Haiti to talk to local officials about migration and other issues.

“I want to say that it was an injustice, that it was wrong,” he said. “The proud people of Haiti and any migrant deserve to be treated with dignity.”

The remarks came Friday, after images of Border Patrol agents on horseback obstructing Haitian migrants from passing into Texas last month.

Gonzalez was on an official visit to Haiti with Brian Nichols, U.S. assistant secretary for Western Hemisphere affairs, amid ongoing expulsions of Haitians from the US. Since Sept. 19, the US has expelled 4,600 Haitian migrants from Del Rio, Texas on 43 flights, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
