CNN political commentator Ana Navarro proposed Monday that Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., deserved to be harassed in the bathroom by left-wing activists at Arizona State University.

Navarro, who regularly co-hosts ABC's "The View," further denounced the action of chasing someone into a bathroom, describing it as "beyond the pail [sic]," notwithstanding her expressed feelings about Sinema.

"Chasing anybody -public or private- into a bathroom, to me is beyond the pail [sic]. Maybe if [Sinema] spent less time in fundraisers with corporate donors and held town-halls to listen to constituents and answer their questions, they wouldn’t chase her into the damn [bathroom]," Navarro tweeted.

Sinema was confronted by the activists while teaching a Sunday class at the university. When she went to the bathroom the activists followed her, denouncing her opposition to many aspects of President Biden's "Build Back Better" agenda and urging her to defend illegal immigrants.

Filming someone in a bathroom without their consent is illegal in Arizona. Sinema denounced the harassment in a lengthy announcement, describing the behavior as "not legitimate protest" and "wholly inappropriate."

Navarro joined a lengthy list of left-leaning news outlets trying to support the activists' behavior, including the liberal site Jezebel, which published a piece titled "Absolutely Bully Kyrsten Sinema Outside Of Her Bathroom Stall," and The Young Turks, who insisted it was Sinema who "created this environment" for activists needing to take such action.

"And for all the pearl-clutching, few are providing a more effective and safe alternative to what these activists did. They told Sinema, to her face—and through a door—that she was failing them and why. There was no violence, no rude language, nothing. Just a few constituents following their representative into a large bathroom to air their grievances. What should they have done instead?" it wrote.

Sinema had beforehand been the subject of intense criticism before the bathroom incident, along with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, due to her opposition to the massive, Democratic-backed, $3.5 trillion spending bill being negotiated in Congress, and a significant legislative component of the Biden agenda.

She has been publicly confronted many times since the bathroom incident, most recently on an airplane and at the airport while returning to Washington on Monday. President Biden called the actions "inappropriate."

"I don’t think they’re appropriate tactics, but it happens to everybody," Biden said. "The only people it doesn’t happen to are the people who have Secret Service standing around them."

Daily Beast editor Molly Jong-Fast dismissed criticism against the rioters as well. She shared Biden’s remarks, Jong-Fast tweeted, "This is a good answer that is driving the right nuts. Bathroomgate is a dumb fake scandal and conservatives pretending to care about Kyrsten Sinema is kind of hilarious."
