Former President Donald Trump condemned Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for his "weak leadership" of the Republican Party.

"Under the weak leadership of Mitch McConnell, Senate Republicans continue to lose. He lost Arizona, he lost Georgia, he ignored Election Fraud and he doesn’t fight," Trump explained Thursday. "Now he’s giving Democrats everything they want and getting nothing in return."

"No deal is better than a bad deal. Fight for America, not for special interests and Radical Democrats," it went on. "RINOs are ruining America, right alongside Communist Democrats."

McConnell will vote to advance President Joe Biden's infrastructure bill that many in the GOP have opposed, he explained Wednesday.

"Based on a commitment from Leader Schumer to Senators Portman and Sinema that the Portman-Sinema amendment to be filed will be the substitute amendment, I will vote to proceed to the bipartisan infrastructure bill," McConnell wrote on Twitter.

McConnell's backing means the bill will probably have enough Republican backing to advance. An ultimate vote could transpire within the next two weeks.

The legislation would provide almost $550 billion to repair infrastructure. Expenses will be covered by unspent coronavirus relief funds, new cryptocurrency tax collections, and different sources of revenue, according to the White House.

Meanwhile, Georgia Republicans demanded a performance review of the top elections official in Fulton County, the first step to a potential state takeover of Atlanta-area voting contests.

A group of two dozen lawmakers signed a letter, obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, seeking the inquiry into Fulton elections chief Richard Barron, who is undergoing backlash for his handling of the 2020 election in the Democratic stronghold.

“We’re asking them to simply correct a record they say is easily corrected. Is it or isn’t it? The people of Georgia deserve answers,” Republican Senate President Pro Tempore Butch Miller announced in the letter.

Under a Georgia law approved this year, the State Election Board can remove county elections management after a performance review or a similar probe if they discover "nonfeasance, malfeasance, or gross negligence in the administration of the elections" in no less than two elections within two years, after which a temporary superintendent would be installed.

But first, two state representatives and two state senators from the county must support the demand for the performance review.

With the state Senate meeting that threshold, Miller stressed: "We have every reason to believe that the requisite number of Fulton’s House delegation will respond likewise, thereby triggering the performance review."
