Forty-eight-year political veteran President Biden raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he alleged to have driven an 18-wheeler truck — a declaration the White House struggled to maintain.

Biden was visiting a Mack Truck facility in Pennsylvania when he made the allegation to have driven the massive trucks before, which demand a specific kind of license.

"I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man," Biden announced on Wednesday in a video posted to Twitter. "I got to."

There is insufficient proof that Biden has ever driven an 18-wheeler truck.

When questioned if the president had ever driven such a truck, a White House spokesperson pointed to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal that showed Biden rode in an 18-wheeler on a 536-mile haul to Ohio.

Fox News pressed the spokesperson regarding the president’s claim – stressing that riding in a truck is not the same as driving one – at which point the president's spokesperson pointed to a United Federation of Teachers post that touched on Biden driving a school bus in the past as a summer job.

The majority of school buses, on average, "have two axles, with the bigger models having two wheels on the front axle and four wheels on the dual axle, for a total of six wheels," according to SchoolBusFleet.com.

Fox News pressed again regarding the president’s allegation, pointing out that a school bus is not the same as an 18-wheeler truck, though did not receive a response by publishing time.

Meanwhile, Biden promised to boost U.S. manufacturing on Wednesday by increasing the amount of American-made content of products purchased with taxpayers' dollars, a "buy American" policy that he announced would help working-class people and unions.

Biden met local members of the United Auto Workers Union (UAW), which represents 85% of the 2,500 workers at Mack Trucks' Lehigh Valley plant, and got a briefing on the new electric-powered garbage truck the company is piloting in New York City and North Carolina.

Later, he doffed his suit coat, rolled up his shirtsleeves, and spoke to a crowd with a backdrop of trucks parked behind him.

Biden announced "buy American" in recent years has become a "hollow promise," an apparent reference to buy American policies promoted by his predecessor, Republican President Donald Trump.

"My administration is going to make Buy American a reality," he stated.

The Democratic president had signed an executive order throughout his first week in office in January directed at harnessing the vast buying power of the federal government - the world's greatest single buyer of consumer goods - to bolster U.S. manufacturing.
