But Republicans continued to accuse Vice President Kamala Harris of lax leadership regarding the U.S.-Mexico border on the 28th day that the vice president failed to hold a news conference regarding her role as manager of the Biden administration’s response to the migrant crisis.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, reminded his 2 million Twitter followers on Tuesday that Harris hasn’t visited the border region since accepting the assignment in late March. "Vice President Kamala Harris visited North Carolina yesterday," Jordan wrote. "She’s set to visit New Hampshire on Friday.

"When’s the ‘border czar’ going to visit the southern border?"

Last week, Jordan urged House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., to schedule a hearing specifically focused on the border crisis.

Jordan’s criticism came on the same day that the Republican governor of a border state unveiled plans to deploy National Guard personnel to the border and declare an emergency regarding the migrant crisis.

"The situation in our border communities is just as bad, if not worse, than the coverage we’ve been seeing," Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey stated as he announced his actions Tuesday.

"Deployment of the National Guard is critical to dealing with this crisis, and we are actively engaged in planning with the Guard," a Ducey spokesman told Fox News this past week.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, also a Republican, has expressed similar concerns about border issues, including the behavior of Mexican cartels. In March, Abbott launched "Operation Lone Star," a plan aimed at helping Texas tackle the migrant crisis.

Also Tuesday, Fox News contributor Joe Concha criticized Harris during an appearance on Fox Business’ "Varney & Co."

Host Stuart Varney noted that Biden administration officials were looking to revise the terminology regarding border issues, such as dropping the term "illegal aliens" and using the description, "undocumented individuals."

Concha reacted by saying White House priorities were based "around language instead of around action."

He pointed out that the U.S. is currently looking after 20,000 unaccompanied children, with facilities at 17 times their intended capacity – and with some migrants being released into the general U.S. population despite concerns about the coronavirus.

"It’s a literal super-spreader event," Concha began, "and we’re worried about language instead of worrying about fixing a border – and a vice president who will not visit the border to see exactly what the conditions are there that include reports of sexual abuse of young people."

Varney asserted that a media still "fawning" over Biden and Harris, now three months into office, was contributing to the problem.

"Just hold powerful people accountable," Concha responded. "I don’t care if you have a ‘D’ next to your name, an ‘R’ next to your name. That is the job here. But no one’s asking the tough questions, particularly of President Biden and Kamala Harris, on how to fix this. It’s not even a crisis at the border, Stuart, it’s a catastrophe."
