Lin Wood is troubling the Republican establishment as he campaigns to be South Carolina's GOP chairman and as he criticized other Republicans for supposedly "not acting as Republicans should act", as if it is logical for him to conclude who's Republican and who isn't.

The pro-Trump attorney and new South Carolina resident aimed at Sen. Lindsey Graham and Nikki Haley, a former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration while speaking at a gathering in Greenville on Tuesday.

“This party doesn’t belong to Lindsey Graham, I don’t care how long he’s been a senator. Get him out of Washington, D.C.,” Wood said, according to the Associated Press. “And then, when you get Lindsey Graham out of Washington, D.C., tell Lindsey Graham to put up a sign that says, ‘Nikki Haley, don’t go there.’ She’s not a Republican either.”

Wood, whose 2020 election lawsuits in Georgia were met with failure, is running against incumbent Drew McKissick for the chairmanship of South Carolina’s Republican Party. McKissick has former President Donald Trump's support, but Wood says that doesn't upset him.

“Drew McKissick has done an outstanding job as South Carolina GOP Chairman, electing more Republicans in 2020 than in over 140 years. Drew fought all the way to the Supreme Court to defend our voting laws—and WON. He will continue to grow the party and help Conservatives get elected in the Great State of South Carolina. Drew has my Complete and Total Endorsement for re-election!,” Trump wrote in a statement released through his Save America political action committee.

McKissick has led the South Carolina GOP since 2017. Trump’s endorsement came one day after Wood told The Hill that he intended to run for the chairman’s seat.

Trump had already endorsed McKissick with a hand-written note back on Feb. 23, according to a photo pinned to the top of McKissick’s Twitter page.

“Drew—you have my complete and total endorsement. Great job,” the note states.

The vote for the GOP chairman is expected to take place at the party convention in May.

Wood also would not rule out a future run against Graham, who won a fourth six-year term in 2020, when asked by an audience member.

"I want to be your chairman because I want to represent you,” Wood said. “But if somebody knocks on my door ... and the time is right, and they say, ‘Hey, Lin, let’s take down Lindsey Graham,’ I will consider doing it."
