Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., a Democrat, is increasing attempts directed at "flipping" Trump's business empire CFO Allen Weisselberg, a source familiar with the subject, told the Washington Post.
The district attorney reportedly has intentions to ask questions about Weisselberg's family in the questionnaire, including two of his sons, one of whom works right under the Trump Organization and the other of whom distributed loans to the company.
The report has not charged any individuals in his crosshairs with wrongdoing, including Trump.
The CFO, who has worked for the former president since the 1980s, has been characterized as the "eyes and ears ... from an economic standpoint" of Trump's business dealings, a source familiar with the matter said.

Vance got Trump's tax returns after a yearlong fight following a Supreme Court rejection of Trump's request for the justices to overturn a lower-court determination guiding him to turn over materials in response to a subpoena.
"The work continues," Vance said after the Supreme Court ruling.

Vance is leading the investigation along with his general counsel, Carey Dunne, who made arguments on behalf of the office at various appellate court hearings. Vance recently hired former mafia prosecutor Mark Pomerantz as a special assistant district attorney to assist in the probe.

Vance’s subpoena sought from Mazars USA not only the final versions of Trump’s tax returns, but also draft versions of those returns and “any and all statements of financial condition, annual statements, periodic financial reports, and independent auditors’ reports” held by the company.

Trump has also been constrained to a civil investigation from New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is looking into the former president for his valuations of real estate after he recouped millions in tax breaks.
James's office has been "reviewing tax information from the Trump Organization," she said, emphasizing that the recent verdict on his business documents do not affect her inquiry as "there’s a wall of separation between" her orbit and the Manhattan district attorney.

Trump has referred to Vance's investigation as a “fishing expedition” and a “continuation of the witch hunt — the greatest witch hunt in history.”
Vance's term expires near the end of 2021, and the prosecutor has yet to reveal if he'll seek reelection, leading to speculation about whether the questioning will live through 2022.
