The phrases "NO GOOD COPS IN A RACIST SYSTEM," "cops kill," and "BLM," among other words, were written in graffiti on both the SPD West Precinct and the sidewalk area around the headquarters. Police said a group demonstrating "inequity in policing" was liable for vandalizing.
Officers swept off the spray paint during the start of their Wednesday shift. The West Precinct remains closed to the public to meet Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, police said.
The headquarters was also graffitied in late June 2020 with the expressions "Defund SPD," "F--k the police," and "All lives don't matter," despite the presence of the barricade, which police built during mass protests in response to the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for over eight minutes toward the end of May.

Most likely the deed was done by Antifa, the radical left group which has been calling to defund the police ever since the death of Floyd, although it is not exactly clear who was involved in the graffiti. The Antifa movement practices terrorism and spreads violence around the country, so it is pretty safe to assume that it was Antifa who vandalized the precint.

Seattle was a hotbed for riot action, and it attracted national attention after an embedded autonomous zone known as the "Capitol Hill Organized Protest" or CHOP was formed. Two people died, including a juvenile, and four were shot during prolonged violence in late June after protesters took over SPD's East Precinct and constructed fences that cut off law enforcement access. The occupied district persisted for weeks before officers were given the OK to disarm it.

In late August, rioters were filmed on video trying to lock officers inside the East Precinct and burn it to the ground. Their efforts were futile, but law enforcement said the group mixed concrete to seal them inside.

“They mixed up the ‘Quikrete’ and then tried to seal off the exits,” Sgt. Randy Huserik said. “I don’t think there’s a lot of leaps that have to be made about what their intent was last night.”
In October, Jacob Greenburg, the 19-year-old stepson of former state Rep. Laura Ruderman who faced prior charges for attempted arson and reckless burning, was detained and accused in connection to an SDP officer getting hit in the head with a baseball bat by a protester. That occurrence was caught on video.
