The numbers of children and families arriving in the U.S.-Mexico border have increased in recent months and Biden, who took office on Jan. 20, has met scrutiny from former President Donald Trump and others for abolishing hardline border systems, such as demanding asylum seekers to wait for their request to be handled outside the country.
Biden has also reverted few Trump-era border security measures, including briefly halting deportations of illegal aliens, shifting Trump’s prohibition on travel from terror-prone countries, stopping the remaining building of the border wall, and announcing a comprehensive immigration package to Congress that proposes a legalization pathway to an approximate 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country.

The president has also promised to bring in 25,000 asylum-seekers who are waiting in Mexico for their immigration case to be adjudicated under the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program.
Critics of the Biden administration say these cancellations, along with new rules, are pushing the rise in illegal border crossings.

While providing an opportunity for all people to be able to request entry into the country, lifting measures to protect the country from illegal entries is not a very good approach. Especially not when the person who is rolling back all the measures has a soft spot for the immigrants.

When asked by a reporter this week whether there is tension at the border, Biden said: “No, we’ll be able to handle it.”

At one point, the migrants knelt as part of a display, begging the president to enable them to enter the country, according to the news website Chapines USA. Men, women, and children were photographed taking part in the show, as border patrol agents stood guard.

It isn’t clear where the T-shirts or banners came from, or who organized or funded the exhibit. T-shirts and clothes with the same slogan are currently for sale on some online websites.
Progressive Democrats hope that Biden will take less of a hardline approach to the nation’s immigration policies than his predecessor. But Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and other Democrats last week showed frustration with the administration after it reestablished a Trump-era shelter facility that was slammed at the time for not being licensed to care for children.
