A former gang member from Albany, New York, who admitted to killing two rivals and making $12,000 a month from drug-dealing, has been tapped for a top leadership post by the Democrats' House campaign committee, the New York Post reported.

Dyjuan Tatro, known as a "triggerman" for the Original Gangsta Killas (OGK) street gang, has been selected by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as a senior adviser for diversity and inclusion, per the Post.

Tatro was condemned to six years in federal prison for his drug-dealing charges in a racketeering case in 2011 when he was sitting for killing the rival gang members in 2006.

It comes in addition to 78 months behind bars he has already served, and for which he received credit.

Tatro, of Albany, was among 25 members and associates of the South End-based "downtown" gang, known as OGK, charged in a racketeering case in 2009. It followed a similar case against the "uptown" Jungle Junkies street gang in the West Hill and Arbor Hill neighborhoods in 2006. Tatro pleaded guilty in December, admitting he made at least $12,000 a month dealing drugs and conspired to traffic more than 50 grams of crack cocaine.

He also confessed to an Oct. 5, 2002 assault on Delaware Avenue, an Oct. 16, 2003 razor-slashing of a victim on Clinton Avenue, and the double-shooting of rival gang members Dushan "Lil Du" Wilson and Andre Blakemore on Feb. 16, 2006, on Washington Avenue.

The double-shooting was in revenge for being shot by a Jungle Junkie member, court papers said.

During his time in jail, Tatro appeared in a 2019 PBS documentary series "College Behind Bars." He earned a bachelor's degree during his six-year racketeering verdict.

After being released in 2017, Tatro became an advocate for expanding New York state's Bard Prison Initiative, through which he received his college degree.

Tatro worked on the campaigns of Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y., who heads the DCCC.

"It's certainly on-brand for criminal-coddling Democrats, but the rest of America will find it disturbing that a murderous gang member is holding a prominent position with the DCCC," New York state Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy told HabdankJ/status/1361750408771694595”> February 16, 2020[

"Second chances are one thing, but I would have to question Congressman Maloney's judgment to put someone with such a violent past at the top of their organization." The DCCC backed the decision.

"Dyjuan is a formerly incarcerated person who has worked hard to change the trajectory of his life through education and service to his community," a DCCC spokesman said. Guess we'll see about that.
