In a poll carried by YouGov and the Center for Growth and Opportunity, 56% of Republicans stated they favored breaking up Big Tech companies into simply small firms. The organizations studied 1,000 people soon after the 2020 presidential election. Approval is up somewhat from 49% in July 2020.
Furthermore, 55% of Republicans stated they support the government regulating social media giants, versus only 47% in July.
A majority of Americans, notwithstanding political affiliation, say that tech giants such as Facebook, Google, and Amazon are way too influential and should be monitored, according to the survey. Almost half of them say the government should break up the big companies.

Former President Donald Trump, whom most social media outlets recently suspended, has made efforts for social media giants to be reined in to combat what he and Republicans have defined as unfair censorship. Trump and many Republicans in Congress have similarly shown support for canceling or amending Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, a provision that shields internet platforms from liability for publishing third-party content.

Over 60% additionally agree that both news organizations and social media firms should be held accountable for incorrect information.
As it was posted on the Growth and Opportunity website: “Regardless of age, Americans overwhelmingly agree (85%) that free speech is necessary to promote equality and social change, but also agree that both news organizations (69%) and social media companies (64%) should be held accountable for inaccurate information.”

Two-thirds of participants said social media companies should ban hate groups from using their websites.
There is a wide range of opinions about which tech companies are taken as trustworthy. Just over 40% of those polled said they "completely distrust" Facebook on handling personal data. However, for Google, that number was 22%, for Amazon, it was 14%, and for Microsoft, it was 15%.

Though, if summing the survey, only the companies who grew to be tech giants, like Google, Facebook, or Amazon drew attention for restrictions needed, smaller firms though, who just started to grow, like Zoom or Slack, did not get that much attention.

When people were asked to “indicate whether or not you think your life would be better or worse off if the company were broken up into smaller companies.” Many answered that they Trust Amazon far more than any other tech giant. The lowest at the list was Slack.
