California Is So 'Woke' These Days That 'White Lives Matter' Is Now Considered Racist

A city in California instantly took down a “White Lives Matter” flag that was placed on city property and marked it “racist” and an “act of vandalism.” So it is okay to put a sign of "Black Lives Matter", but it is racist to put a banner of "White Lives Matter"? Can you see the irony, the hypocrisy?

“The city is disgusted by this despicable act of vandalism that has occurred on the heels of the insurrection in the U.S. Capitol last week,” a statement from Union City officials stated, “and on the weekend of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday that celebrates the life and achievements of this important civil rights leader.”

The white banner with black lettering was placed above a city intersection. It was quickly pulled down Saturday after officials became conscious of its presence.

“This is despicable and we removed it immediately,” Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci said of the banner.

"I hope this is an isolated incident, as it doesn't reflect the community of my city," said Kashmir Shahi, chairman of the Union City Human Relations Commission.

The banner comes after a summer of Black Lives Matter protests and riots against alleged systemic racism within police departments across the country.

Major cities, such as Washington, D.C., and New York City, painted Black Lives Matter murals on city property in support of the activism.

City officials called the incident — which happened the weekend before the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday and 10 days after the pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol — racist.

“The city is disgusted by this despicable act of vandalism that has occurred on the heels of the insurrection in the U.S. Capitol last week and on the weekend of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday that celebrates the life and achievements of this important civil rights leader,” city officials said in a statement. “While some may believe what happened at the United States Capitol could not happen here, this incident, unfortunately, shows how divisiveness at the national level can permeate even our community.”

Officials said Union City’s City Council, Human Relations Commission, police department and city staff “remain on heightened alert to make sure racist incidents like this do not happen again in our community.”

Human Relations Commission Chair Kashmir Singh Shahi said in a video statement on YouTube that the commission was on its yearly retreat addressing its priorities for the year when commissioners were informed of the flag. The first priority commissioners adopted on Saturday morning, before they learned about the banner, was to “remain vigilant about the insurrection and division taking place at the national level and to prevent it from coming to Union City,” city officials said.

It makes no sense. Do white lives not matter the same as black lives? If both are important, then people should be allowed to hang banners for the white lives just as people are allowed to hang banners for black lives.
