Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., rushed to Instagram on Tuesday night and proposed that the states in the south have to be "liberated."

Throughout an over hour-long livestream regarding the Capitol Hill protests and the continuing attempts to impeach President Trump, the progressive lawmaker repeated her call for GOP Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to quit or be ousted by Democratic challengers for leading the opposition in the certification of President-elect Biden's triumph.

She then led to "multi-racial" and "multicultural" grassroots organization in Georgia that led to Democrats taking charge of the Senate as a sign that "southern states are not red states, they are suppressed states."

"Which means the only way that our country's going to heal is through the actual liberation of southern states", Ocasio-Cortez announced to her 8.3 million Instagram followers, "the actual liberation of the poor, the actual liberation of working people from economic, social, and racial oppression. That's the only way."

After the protests, AOC was one of the first to urge The President to be removed from office. "Impeach," she tweeted the afternoon of Jan. 6. Pence has opted to not invoke the 25th Amendment, which would succeed Trump with Pence, though the House is poised on Wednesday to call a vote to impeach Trump for the second time.

Cortez went on explaining she didn’t feel safe in the riots, "I didn't even feel safe going to that extraction point because there were QAnon and white supremacist members of Congress who I felt would disclose my location and create opportunities to allow me to be hurt," she said.

Ocasio-Cortez told her Instagram followers she was unable to describe her experience of the protest in greater detail for legal reasons. She did, though, use it as a chance to decline the senators who voted against certifying the election results, adding to the calls for Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to resign.

“I want to be clear, to Senator Ted Cruz.” she said, “ You do not belong in the United States Senate. Be clear to Senator Josh Hawley. You do not belong in the United States Senate. You do not belong in any democratically elected seat. When you do not believe that that election was even legitimate according to your self-serving claims. So get out."

Ocasio-Cortez has been in a loud word battle with Cruz since the pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol building, accusing him of trying to fundraise off his election challenge as the riot was ongoing.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
