“If these insurrectionists were black, they would have been shot in the face, and, my God, if these insurrectionists were Muslim, they would have been sniped from the top of buildings,” he stated. “So I want to know from the Capitol Hill police: what, is it just white people, or are they Donald Trump supporters? ... What is wrong with you?”

What started as a "Stop the Steal" rally plunged into chaos when those opposing the certification of President-elect Joe Biden's electoral triumph breached the perimeter of Capitol Hill. Trump’s acknowledgment appeared after a day of turmoil and devastation on Capitol Hill as masses of his followers stormed the Capitol building and unleashed unprecedented displays of violence as it attempted to halt the calm transition of power. Members of Congress were taken into hiding, offices were ransacked, and the formal congressional tally halted for more than six hours.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump said in a statement posted to Twitter by his social media director. His own account had been barred by the media giant for posting information that appeared to support the attack on the seat of the nation’s democracy.
Trump added, “While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”
