The Delaware U.S. Attorney's Office is currently looking into Hunter Biden for possible tax fraud, and Trump is reportedly contemplating appointing a special counsel to guarantee the investigation remains after he leaves office.
"He will not be discussing an investigation of his son with any attorney general candidates," Psaki said. "He will not be discussing it with anyone he is considering for the role and he will not be discussing it with a future attorney general. It will be up to the purview of a future attorney general in his administration to determine how to handle any investigation."
Psaki also said Biden has unequivocally stated that his attorney general will "oversee an independent department," and that this person will be "somebody of the highest level of integrity."

The talk of the Hunter Biden probe came after Biden had told "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert that he believes it is "kind of foul play" that an examination into his son was "used to get to me." Psaki explained that Biden's use of the phrase "foul play" was about the politicization of the probe, not the examination itself.

As for the future of Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, Psaki remained non-committal, noting that this was a personnel matter and the transition crew currently has more influential posts to fill.
The Post first revealed in October that Hunter introduced his dad to a top executive at Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm in which he served on the board.

The information was contained in emails found on a laptop Hunter Biden left at a computer repair facility in Wilmington, Del.
The Post also exposed how the son sought profitable business deals in China.
Trump was furious with Bill Barr, who left his post as attorney general last week, for not being more proactive with the Hunter probe and for not informing Congress during the 2020 election that the scrutiny had been ongoing for two years.

But Trump says he is driving clear of any involvement in a possible Hunter probe.
“I have NOTHING to do with the potential prosecution of Hunter Biden, or the Biden family. It is just more Fake News. Actually, I find it very sad to watch!” Trump tweeted last week.
