China's foreign ministry today has finally offered praises to US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris for securing the presidential elections victory on November 3.

"We have been paying attention to the domestic and international community's reaction to this US presidential election," foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said Friday at a regular everyday briefing.

"We respect the choice of the American people. We extend congratulations to Mr Biden and Ms Harris. We understand the results of the US election will be determined according to US laws and procedures," he added.

The news comes after the Trump administration on Thursday revealed an administrative order banning US investments in Chinese firms, accumulating pressure on Beijing after the US election.

President Trump is still denying to admit defeat to Biden, maintaining the election is not over. He also asserted that his 2.7million votes for him had been "deleted".
