Hollywood's first James Bond, Sean Connery, has died at the age of 90. He was suave, he was sexy, and he was a Scotsman to his core. The Oscar winner played many other roles, including Harrison Ford's father in an "Indiana Jones" movie.

President Trump on Sunday spoke of Sean Connery as a “tough character” and attributed him for using his influence to help Trump win approval to build one of his golf courses in Scotland.

“The legendary actor, 007 Sean Connery, has passed on to even greener fairways. He was quite a guy, and a tough character,” the president wrote of the star of the James Bond movies who passed Saturday at 90.

“I was having a very hard time getting approvals for a big development in Scotland when Sean stepped in and shouted,’Let him build the damn thing’. That was all I needed, everything went swimmingly from there,” the president continued. “He was so highly regarded & respected in Scotland and beyond that years of future turmoil was avoided.”

“Sean was a great actor and an even greater man. Sincere condolences to his family!,” The president also said of Connery, a Scot who played Bond in six movies.

Trump didn’t say which of the two golf resorts he owns in Scotland Connery helped to establish.

Though, the British press reported that Trump told then-Prime Minister Theresa May throughout a visit to Britain that Connery assisted him to get support to build his Turnberry golf course in Scotland.

NPR film critic Bob Mondello shared more about Connery’s life: “He was born into real poverty. You know, he lived initially in a flat that shared a toilet with someone else, no hot water. His crib was supposed to be a drawer pulled out from a bureau. He grew up in - seriously not in that world. He left school at 13. He drove trucks. He lifeguarded for a bit.” said Mondello.

"When he became interested in acting, he got a job in the chorus of "South Pacific." That was one of the first things he did. He tried out for Mr. Universe because he lifted weights a lot." said Morello "That was not the way you'd start. And in fact, I guess, you know, James Bond didn't seem to be on the horizon."

when Morello was asked how Connery got the role, he answered that “in fact, when he went in to audition, Ian Fleming didn't like him in it. He said basically something on the order of, I'm looking for someone suave and sophisticated, a commander. And what he was sort of getting was a truck driver sort. But when he saw him in the role, when he saw him playing it, he changed his mind and actually rewrote in the books”
