A new poll reveals that 59 percent of Americans are "concerned" regarding President Joe Biden's mental health, as questions linger over whether the 79-year-old should run for a second term.

An I&I/TIPP poll released Monday discovered that 36 percent of respondents were "very concerned" regarding mental health, with a further 23 percent stating they were somewhat concerned.

Pollsters found that 18 percent were not very concerned, with 21 percent saying they had no concerns at all.

Another 2 percent of respondents announced they weren't sure.

Party ideology played into people's perceptions of the Democratic president.

Among Democrats, 39 percent announced they were worried about Biden's mental condition, versus 82 percent of concerned and 56 percent of independents who agreed.

Pollsters noted that while the Democratic number is smaller, 39 percent is still "statistically high."

On the flipside, 58 percent of Democrats stated they're not concerned about Biden's mental health.

Meanwhile, only 17 percent of Republicans and 39 percent of independents agreed.

While party preference skewed Americans' opinions, usual factors like gender, race and age mostly did not.

Fifty-nine percent of both men and women stated they were worried about Biden's mental health.

Among those who announced they were not concerned, 39 percent were men and 38 percent were women.

Whites and Latinos expressed concern in regarding equal number.

Sixty-three percent of whites stated they were worried, while 61 percent of Latinos agreed.

Black Americans were more confident in Biden, with 53 percent stating they weren't worried regarding the president's mental state, versus 44 percent who announced they were.

When breaking down survey results for age, pollsters discovered that 59 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds were concerned, 62 percent of 25 to 44-year-old, 57 percent of 45 to 64-year-old and 56 percent of those 65 and older.

"The fact is, based on these polling data, there is genuine concern among virtually all groups over Biden’s cognitive health," Issues & Insights Terry Jones said. "It has taken on political urgency with the looming 2022 midterm elections, which, if Republicans prevail, could well turn Biden into a lame duck."

Biden has been known for being a gaffe-prone politician throughout his career, yet Republicans - and even some Democrats too - have pointed out recent verbal stumbles and physical stumbles, like his Rehoboth Beach bike fall, proposing the near-octogenarian should be done after one term.

The poll was conducted online from August 2 to August 4, with 1,335 U.S. adults polled.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent.
