Hillary Clinton cautioned of what may come next if the Supreme Court ends up reversing Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case in which abortion was legalized across the United States.

The former secretary of state participated in an interview Thursday for CBS Evening News and stated that a leaked draft opinion, which signals the Conservative majority on the high court will roll back abortion rights, is a bad omen for women and maybe even a wider array of people.

“This opinion is dark. It is incredibly dangerous, and it is not just about a woman’s right to choose. It is about much more than that,” Clinton explained to anchor Norah O’Donnell.

Justice Samuel Alito, who composed the draft opinion that came to light Monday night, wrote that the Supreme Court believes “Roe and Casey must be overruled” and claimed it “is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”

The opinion is not absolute, and votes among the justices might change before a ruling sometime in the following months. The leak prompted Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts to order an investigation by the court’s marshal. In an announcement, the court confirmed the leaked draft is “authentic” yet stressed it does “not represent a decision by the Court.”

Alito wrote that other matters are not in peril. “Nothing in this opinion should be understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion,” the justice wrote. Some worry interracial marriage and gay marriage, among other things, might be next.

“Any American who says, ‘Look, I’m not a woman. This doesn’t affect me. I’m not black. That doesn’t affect me. I’m not gay. That doesn’t affect me’ — once you allow this kind of extreme power to take hold, you have no idea who they will come for next,” Clinton announced.

Clinton, who lost to former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, is again being talked about as someone who might throw her hat into the ring in 2024, even though she has dismissed such a notion before.

Mika Brzezinski, the co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, announced this week that the reversing of Roe v. Wade might just motivate Clinton to run for President again. At the very least, Clinton is talking about elections and their outcomes.

“I hope people now are fully aware of what we’re up against because the only answer is at the ballot box to elect people who will stand up for every American’s rights,” Clinton stated.
