Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona was confronted by demonstrators on a flight and in the airport regarding her refusal to back the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion spending bill on Monday, one day after activists barged into a bathroom and filmed her. This was the second day that the moderate lawmaker was harassed after Sunday's attack in a bathroom.
The activists asked why she would not back the Biden administration’s “Build Back Better” agenda and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration reform.
At Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C., Green New Deal Network chief of staff Kunoor Ojha and many others yelled questions at the Arizona senator while she was attempting to have a phone conversation.

"Hi, Sen. Sinema? I want to ask if you can explain to the American people what you're planning on cutting from Joe Biden's ‘Build Back Better’ plan?" Ojha asked. "Do you want to cut climate priorities? Is it elder care that you want to cut, or is it child care?"

While on the flight, a young woman named Karina came up to Sinema’s seat to confront her regarding backing DACA.
“This is my life and the life of millions,” she stated. “Can we get a commitment from you to get a pathway to citizenship?”

Synema did not engage in either of the encounters. She and Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia have drawn the ire of the progressive Democrats for holding centrist fiscal positions and declining to back the bill unless the cost comes down considerably.

In a statement Monday, Sinema hit out at the people who faced her in the bathroom.
"We knocked on doors for you to get you elected, and just like how we got you elected, we can get you out of office if you don't support what you promised us," one activist said as Sinema walked into the bathroom and closed a stall door.

Cinema in her Monday statement stated her backing for the First Amendment and the right of constituents to demonstrate and noted that the activist organization that faced her is one both she and her Senate staff have met with “several times.”
“After deceptively entering a locked, secure building, these individuals filmed and publicly posted videos of my students without their permission — including footage taken of both my students and I using a restroom,” she announced.
Sinema showed that she has aimed to form a “safe and intellectually challenging environment” for her students. “Yesterday, that environment was breached. My students were unfairly and unlawfully victimized. This is wholly inappropriate,” Sinema stated.
“It is the duty of elected leaders to avoid fostering an environment in which honestly-held policy disagreements serve as the basis for vitriol and creating a permission structure for unacceptable behavior,” Sinema announced.
