Ohio State Highway Patrol officers reportedly were involved in a crossfire Thursday morning with a man who tried to break into an FBI building in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Northbound Interstate 71 was closed after the suspect drove away from the scene and reportedly started firing at police from a cornfield, NBC 15 News reported. FBI negotiators have also arrived on the scene.

FBI officials at the Cincinnati Field Office confirmed to WLWT that the situation began after an armed man showed up at the office and allegedly made threats.

The suspect was described as a white male over police scanner traffic, according to the News Journal.

Mr Trump's former Vice-President, Mike Pence, who has subtly distanced himself amid speculation they may both launch 2024 White House runs, called on the attorney general to give "a full accounting" of why the search warrant was carried out.

"No former President of the United States has ever been subject to a raid of their residence in American history," he wrote on Twitter.
