Liz Cheney finds herself navigating turbulent waters in the political arena.

The former Congresswoman, who staked her career on opposing Donald Trump, now faces criticism from Elon Musk over her past association with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Musk, currently leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has advocated for dismantling USAID, labeling it a “criminal” entity engaged in money laundering and squandering taxpayer funds.

According to Gateway Pundit, Musk took to his X platform to respond to analyst Mike Benz's revelation about Cheney's political beginnings at USAID, simply remarking, "Interesting." Cheney, seizing the moment, retorted by highlighting Musk's South African origins, despite his American citizenship. "Damn right, @Elon. I’m proud of what America did to win the Cold War, defeat Soviet communism, and defend democracy," she asserted. "Our nation stood for freedom. You may be unfamiliar with that part of our history since you weren’t yet an American citizen."

Cheney's political influence may be waning, yet she avoided potential legal repercussions for alleged misconduct during her leadership in prosecuting January 6th protesters. President Joe Biden, in his final hours in office, granted Cheney a "pre-emptive pardon," extending the same clemency to figures such as General Mark Milley and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

"These public servants have served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified and politically motivated prosecutions," Biden stated, emphasizing the nation's indebtedness to their service.
