Harrison Butker, a Super Bowl champion and a devout Christian, has become a notable figure not only for his athletic prowess but also for his outspoken views.

In May 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker delivered a commencement address at Benedictine College that sparked significant controversy. While conservatives applauded his remarks, the speech drew ire from liberal circles, igniting a debate that persists nearly a year later, even as the Super Bowl approaches.

As reported by the Daily Caller, Butker's speech took aim at then-President Joe Biden, Pride Month, and other contentious topics. However, the most contentious part of his address was his commentary on women, whom he praised as mothers, wives, and "homemakers." Butker stated, "I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you.

He further expressed gratitude for his wife, saying, "I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all. The controversy resurfaced during the opening night of Super Bowl week when a reporter questioned Butker about his previous remarks. Unwavering in his stance, Butker reiterated his position, stating, "It opened up a lot of good conversations and a lot of guys had different opinions about it, but we all love each other in that locker room, and we all know who we are, and I think all the guys understood where I was coming from. I know they respect me and respect what I have to say. I got nothing to apologize for."
