President-elect Donald Trump has extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to grace his inauguration ceremony slated for January 20, 2025, in Washington, DC.

The acceptance of this invitation by President Xi remains uncertain.

As reported by CBS News, multiple sources have confirmed that "inauguration officials are making plans for additional foreign dignitaries to attend the swearing-in ceremony." This would mark a historical first, as no foreign leader has ever attended an American inauguration, according to CBS.

Karoline Leavitt, a member of the transition team and the forthcoming administration's press secretary, stated, "World leaders are lining up to meet with President Trump because they know he will soon return to power and restore peace through American strength around the globe." This statement underscores the international anticipation for Trump's return to power and his potential influence on global peace.

The invitation to President Xi was extended shortly after Trump's victory over Kamala Harris in the presidential race. However, The Post Millennial reports that the Chinese Embassy has yet to issue a response.

Trump has indicated his intention to adopt a firm stance with Xi, including potential threats to hike tariffs on Chinese exports to the US. This approach aligns with his commitment to protect American interests and uphold free-market economics.

In a recent interaction with Meet the Press, Trump vaguely mentioned having had "a communication" with Xi, without delving into the specifics. The last face-to-face meeting between the two leaders took place in Japan during the 2019 G20 summit.

As this story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these developments will shape the future of Sino-American relations under the Trump administration.
