The call was made public via a post on Truth Social, where Trump expressed his concerns about the Democrats' intentions.
"The Democrats are trying to stack the Courts with Radical Left Judges on their way out the door," Trump wrote on the social media platform. This move comes as the Democrats, under the leadership of Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., continue to schedule votes on judges. As reported by Straight Arrow News, the Judiciary Committee is responsible for sending nominees to the floor, and with a simple majority, the Democrats can confirm as many judges as time permits before January 2. The Judicial Conference has disclosed that there are 17 pending nominations, a figure that is subject to change, with a few more still in committee.
In response to Trump's post, Judiciary Committee member Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, echoed the former President's sentiments. "Senate Republicans need to do everything we can to stop the confirmation of horrible Biden-appointed judges," Lee stated. This comes after Republicans delayed confirmations on the night of Monday, Nov. 18, extending the Senate session until midnight. However, these procedural maneuvers did not completely stall the process.
Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., provided a detailed account of the events. "Chuck Schumer filed on three judicial nominees on Thursday, then he came back in yesterday with no notice and said, actually, I want to do, whatever, eight or nine more and jam them through the Senate," Hawley explained. "That’s not our normal process. So, hey, you actually have to have consent to go from the legislative calendar to the executive calendar in order to file these nominees. So what you saw is Republicans saying, ‘Well, we’re not just going to give you blanket consent.’”

On the other side of the aisle, Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., criticized the Republicans' actions. "Last night did nothing for nobody," Booker said. "Just kept a bunch of Senators up till midnight. It was a ridiculous display. Donald Trump had put a record number of judges when he was here. We challenged some, we did some, but we didn’t do things like that.”
