In a startling revelation, Queens state Assemblyman Ron Kim has claimed that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) attempted to manipulate the outcome of the Democratic primary in June last year.

This allegation comes in the wake of charges against a former aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul for acting as an agent for the CCP.

According to The Post Millennial, Kim stated in an exclusive interview, “There were clear patterns of foreign influence trying to dictate the outcome of the election — groups with ties to mainland China and the CCP. They were trying to steal the Flushing seat.” He further expressed his concern about the situation, saying, “It’s a very layered operation. We’re entering dangerous territory. I don’t know how we can stop it.”

Kim, a Korean-American, decided to share his experience following the arrest of Linda Sun, a former top aide to Governors Kathy Hochul and Andrew Cuomo, who is now linked to the CCP. Sun and her husband, Christopher Hu, face charges of being unregistered agents for the CCP, allegedly receiving millions of dollars in kickbacks, and laundering the illicit funds to purchase luxury properties and vehicles, including a $4.1 million mansion and a 2024 Ferrari Roma.

During the 40th District primary, Kim found himself competing against Yi Andy Chen, a relatively unknown political figure who had the backing of the American Chinese Commerce Association. This association is reportedly closely connected to the CCP, and its chairman, John Chan, a Chinese-American activist, is known to have ties with the People's Republic of China and its Consulate General office in New York.

Kim, who narrowly won his first nomination battle in 2012 by a margin of 443 votes, told The Post Millennial that the CCP's influence in New York has been steadily increasing. However, critics are often hesitant to voice their concerns for fear of retaliation. “It’s a scary thing,” Kim said of opposing CCP activity.

The assemblyman also pointed out that the majority of the Chinese community in the US is anti-communist, having fled their homeland to escape authoritarian control. “The majority of Asia groups are loyal to American business and American capital,” Kim said. However, he warned of a new wave of organizations linked to the CCP that do not share these loyalties.

Kim also shared his experience of introducing a resolution to honor the relationship between the US and Taiwan, a sovereign nation that China views as a rebellious province. During Cuomo's tenure, Kim was informed by someone from the governor's office that the “Chinese consul general was upset” with his resolution.

The situation took a more concerning turn in November when John Chan, chairman of the American Chinese Commerce Association, was present to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to San Francisco, standing in opposition to a crowd protesting Chinese policy. This incident further underscores the growing influence of the CCP and the challenges faced by those who dare to oppose it.
