Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., has voiced his concerns over this choice, labeling it as a testament to Harris' radical leanings.
According to The Daily Signal, Scott shared his views at Erick Erickson’s The Gathering conference in Atlanta. He also featured on The Daily Signal Podcast, where he discussed Walz’s military record, the 2024 election prospects in Florida, and the potential implications of a Harris-Walz Democratic ticket.
Scott, a veteran himself, expressed skepticism about Walz's political ideology, stating, “I don’t know one veteran who’s been to war who’s a socialist,” He further added, “and this guy is clearly a radical socialist,” referring to Walz. The Florida senator's military background includes service in the Navy during the Vietnam War, although he was not deployed to Vietnam. His father, a World War II veteran, fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Scott emphasized the importance of honesty in representing one's military record, saying, “It’s a big deal to make sure you are honest with your military record.” This statement comes in the wake of accusations by Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance, who has alleged that Walz has exaggerated his military record.
