The Vice President, speaking to a crowd of 10,000 in Atlanta, Georgia, criticized Trump's record, including his criminal charges and his role in the demise of a bipartisan immigration bill earlier this year. The bill was initially proposed by one of the nation's most conservative senators.
The rally was a lively affair, with Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion performing four songs and rallying the crowd in support of Harris. The rapper also emphasized the importance of women's reproductive rights, stating, "Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their bodies — and if you want to keep loving your body, you know who to vote for." She further endorsed Harris as the future President, predicting that the crowd was on the verge of making history by electing the first black female President.

As reported by The Independent, Harris, once on stage, drew a sharp contrast between herself and Trump. She reminded the crowd of her prosecutorial background, where she had dealt with "perpetrators of all kinds," including those who abused women, defrauded consumers, and broke rules for personal gain. She confidently stated, "So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type — I know the type, and I have been dealing with people like him my entire career." This statement was met with chants of "lock him up," referencing Trump's 34 felony convictions.

Harris also contrasted her record on immigration with Trump's, citing her experience as the attorney general of California, a state that shares a border with Mexico. She recounted her efforts in dealing with transnational gangs, drug cartels, and human traffickers who entered the country illegally. She stated, "I walked underground tunnels between the United States and Mexico on that border with law enforcement officers. I went after transnational gangs, drug cartels and human traffickers that came into our country illegally. I prosecuted them in case after case, and I won."

In contrast, Harris criticized Trump for his failure to deliver on his promises of securing the border. She recalled how their administration had worked on a significant border security bill, which had garnered support from some of the most conservative Republicans in Washington, DC, and even the Border Patrol. However, the bill was thwarted by Trump, who she accused of tanking the bipartisan deal for his electoral gain. Harris vowed to push for the same bill to become law if she were to become President.

The Vice President's appearance at the Atlanta rally marked a significant shift in the Democratic Party's culture and enthusiasm since President Biden's surprising announcement that he would not seek a second term. The rally was reminiscent of the pre-COVID-19 Democratic campaigns, with packed stands and star-studded guest lists. The crowd was warmed up by Peach State Democratic mainstays, including former gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and Georgia’s two Democratic senators, Jon Ossoff and Rev Raphael Warnock.
Harris also addressed Trump's recent indecision about participating in the upcoming presidential debate scheduled for September 10. She interpreted his hesitation as a sign of the shifting momentum in the race and challenged him to confront her on the debate stage. She stated, "Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage, because as the saying goes: If you got something to say, you should say it to my face."

In her speech, Harris also warned against Trump's proposed "Project 2025" agenda, which she claimed would cut Social Security and Medicare, provide tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations, and gut the Affordable Care Act. She asserted, "America has tried these failed policies before, and we are not going back."
She emphasized the importance of fighting for the future and for freedom, including the freedom to vote, to be safe from gun violence, to live without fear of bigotry and hate, and for a woman to make decisions about her own body.
