According to Newsweek, a video that has been circulating on social media platforms has prompted an investigation into an alleged Amazon employee who is purportedly refusing to dispatch Make America Great Again (MAGA) hats, merchandise associated with former President Donald Trump.

The video was shared on X, a social media platform formerly known as Twitter, by a user with the handle I Meme Therefore I Am (@ImMeme0). The footage shows a woman, alleged to be an Amazon employee, stating that she will not be delivering any MAGA hats ordered through the company. "You won't be getting it on my...watch," she declares, tossing the hat back into a box.

The user who posted the video commented, "Here is an Amazon employee who openly admits on camera that customers who ordered MAGA hats won't receive their shipments 'on her watch' due to her TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome]. I wonder if @amazon is aware that their employees are not processing orders based on their political beliefs?"

Newsweek could not independently verify the video's authenticity. However, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed in an email statement that the company is investigating the incident. "This behavior is unacceptable. We're currently investigating, and once we get more information, we'll take appropriate action," the spokesperson stated.

Amazon's website indicates that customers can purchase MAGA hats from a variety of vendors, with most available for shipping through Amazon Prime's policy.

MAGA hats, often sported by Trump supporters at his rallies, have been a subject of controversy. Matt Sears, a scholar and columnist, has previously argued that the merchandise symbolizes a specific set of ideas. "The entire sentiment of 'Make America Great Again' implies that there was a time when America was great and it's not any longer...It takes a certain kind of willful denial and willful ignorance to wear a MAGA hat and assume that you're not conveying all those values and beliefs," Sears stated in 2019.

Despite the controversy, Trump supporters have staunchly defended the use of the hats. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, was threatened with removal from Congress in March for wearing the hat, which she refused to remove despite being urged to do so by the Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Greene defended her stance to the Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN), stating, "I was like, 'You can hold me out of here. Go ahead and try it, but I'm not going to take this hat off.' And I told them, 'I'm elected by my district, this is the People's House, I will wear this hat, I will wear it here on the House floor because my district supports President Trump, support 'Make America Great Again' policies and support me wearing this hat.'"
