In a bold move, GOP Representative Anna Paulina Luna declared on Friday that she would instigate an inherent contempt vote on the House floor, following the Department of Justice's refusal to prosecute U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.

This announcement comes in the wake of the Justice Department's decision not to prosecute Garland for contempt of Congress concerning the Biden audio tapes.

According to the Gateway Pundit, inherent contempt proceedings allow either the House or Senate to have their Sergeant-At-Arms, or deputy, take a person into custody for proceedings to be held in Congress. This is a measure that Luna is prepared to enforce, as she believes Garland is attempting to shield President Joe Biden by withholding the audio tapes.

The House of Representatives had previously voted to hold Garland in criminal contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena. House Oversight Chairman James Comer had argued that Biden could not assert executive privilege over the audio of his interview with Robert Hur, given that the transcript had already been made public. Luna echoed this sentiment, stating, "The Biden-Hur transcript is already public!"

Luna further suggested that the audio tapes of Biden's interview with Hur would underscore his cognitive decline. She emphasized that the Department of Justice, and Garland himself, are not above the law. "Inherent contempt will be called up and brought to the floor," Luna asserted.

The resolution has already been filed by Luna, who confirmed, "I will be calling up the vote." This move underscores the conservative perspective that government officials should be held accountable for their actions, and that no individual, regardless of their position, is above the law.
