In a recent development, the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee unveiled a video clip on Monday that has put former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in the spotlight.

The footage, captured on January 6, 2021, by Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, reveals the former Speaker acknowledging her own culpability for the absence of National Guard soldiers at the Capitol. As reported by The Blaze, Pelosi is heard saying, "I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more."

The video features Pelosi in conversation with her chief of staff, Terri McCullough, as they are being escorted away from the Capitol in an SUV. Pelosi is heard expressing her frustration over the lack of preparedness, questioning why the National Guard wasn't present at the Capitol from the outset. "We have responsibility, Terri. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there — and we should have," Pelosi stated.

When McCullough attempted to justify the situation by suggesting that "they thought that they had sufficient resources," Pelosi retorted, "It's not a question of how they had — they don't know. They clearly didn't know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more."

Following the release of the video, Pelosi sought refuge on MSNBC, accusing her critics of engaging in "revisionist history." She argued, "They're trying to do revisionist history on Jan. 6. We cannot let us be dragged into their, again, false impression of what happened that day."

In a twist of irony, Pelosi then pointed the finger at former President Donald Trump for not deploying the National Guard to the Capitol on Jan. 6. This statement appears to contradict her own admission of responsibility captured in the newly released video.

In response to the unfolding controversy, Pelosi's office issued a scathing statement. "Numerous independent fact-checkers have confirmed again and again that Speaker Pelosi did not plan her own assassination on January 6th," a spokesperson for her office declared.

The significance of the footage extends beyond Pelosi's admission. The Jan. 6 committee had never released this footage, and the reasons for its concealment remain a mystery. The video only came to light after House Republicans requested it from HBO, as per Politico.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.), chairman of the House Administration Oversight Subcommittee, has stated that the footage "directly contradicts" Pelosi's narrative about Jan. 6. "Pelosi’s J6 Select Committee spent taxpayer’s money chasing false political narratives and using Hollywood producers for their ‘investigation.’ Her admission of responsibility directly contradicts their own narrative," he said. This development underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in our political landscape.
