According to The Blaze, it has been nearly two weeks since the conviction of former President Donald Trump in a Manhattan courtroom, a verdict that was largely driven by partisan politics.

Despite the Democrats' high hopes that this conviction would significantly impact Trump's standing, it appears to have had little effect.

The Democrats had been banking on a conviction in any of the four cases that had been brought forward by Democrat district attorneys and special counsels. While three of these cases have essentially come to a standstill, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg managed to secure the first 34 goals. However, these victories have not translated into any significant points. Furthermore, even this conviction is on shaky ground.

National polls have remained largely unchanged, with some even showing a shift towards Trump. Virginia, a state that has long tantalized Republicans, is one such example. Despite not having won the state's 13 electoral votes in a presidential race for two decades, recent developments have led RealClearPolitics to categorize Virginia as a "toss up."

Pollster Frank Luntz, in a post-conviction focus group for the New York Times, expressed his bewilderment at the current state of affairs. Both Biden and Trump have served as president for four years each, and their names have been consistently in the news. Yet, the convictions have done little to sway public opinion.

The convictions have not revealed anything new about Trump to his detractors or to independent voters. The Democrats, however, have shown their willingness to imprison their political opponents. This revelation has allowed Republicans to level the playing field in terms of fundraising, a crucial aspect in a tight race.

Meanwhile, tensions are rising within the Democrat Party over the upcoming joint address to Congress by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Despite the insistence of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeen Jeffries that inviting the Israeli PM is a matter of good manners and precedent, many of their colleagues are not in agreement.

The internal conflict within the Democrat Party has been evident since the Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel. Pro-Hamas activists recently staged a large-scale protest in the capital, vandalizing American history, attacking police, and setting off smoke bombs. This lack of unity could potentially impact the lead-up to the 2024 election.

Lastly, concerns are growing over the impact of social media on children. Rising rates of suicide, depression, gender dysphoria, and eating disorders in countries where children have easy access to cell phones and social media platforms are alarming. Tech giants, who shield their own children from their products, have exploited our libertarian impulse to protect their business model. However, politicians are finally starting to take notice.
