AMC Networks has recently appended a 'trigger warning' to the iconic gangster film Goodfellas, citing the presence of cultural stereotypes.

This move has sparked controversy, given that the film is based on the real-life experiences of mobster Henry Hill and his associates.

Critics argue that the warning should instead focus on the film's graphic depiction of violence and murder. The New York Post reported on the issue, stating, "AMC Networks added a trigger warning to the classic mob movie 'Goodfellas' — rankling those who were in the film and wiseguys alike."

The warning, which reads, "This film includes language and/or cultural stereotypes that are inconsistent with today's standards of inclusion and tolerance and may offend some viewers," appears at the beginning of the film when screened on the network. The decision to include this warning was made during the peak of the Black Lives Matter protests, when many organizations were striving to avoid causing offense.

Bo Ditel, a former NYPD officer who played a police officer in Goodfellas, expressed his frustration with the situation to The Post. He said, "The f–king political correctness has f–king taken everything away. This is how life was back then. It was not a clean beautiful thing. You can’t cleanse history. If you want to tell true history, you gotta tell it the way it is."

The decision by AMC Networks has sparked a flurry of reactions on social media platforms, with many recalling former President Trump's remarks on the issue of 'wokeness'.
