The recent debate challenge issued by President Joe Biden to the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, has been making waves in the media.

However, the specific demands made by the Biden team concerning the debate's format have not been given the attention they warrant. This lack of scrutiny is primarily due to the mainstream media's protective stance towards Biden, as the first anticipated debate, scheduled for June 27 and hosted by CNN, draws near.

As previously reported, Biden's team requested no live audience, the muting of microphones once a speaker's time has elapsed or while the other speaker is talking, the hosting of the debate by certain news organizations perceived as Democrat-friendly, and the exclusion of third-party candidates such as RFK Jr. Trump, eager to face Biden, accepted these terms.

An anonymous Biden adviser revealed in an interview that the demand for no audience was non-negotiable. The rationale behind this was that a crowd of voters could energize Trump and potentially disrupt Biden's debate strategy. The adviser admitted, "Trump feeds off the crowd, they give him life. We wanted to take that away."

The absence of a live audience, coupled with liberal media moderators, could potentially create a controlled environment where Biden could better hear instructions from his team through an earpiece.

These demands suggest a lack of confidence in Biden's debate performance against Trump in the 2020 elections. It appears that Biden's team is apprehensive and aims to control every detail of the event, similar to other events attended by Biden.

Further evidence of Biden's anxiety surfaced when he challenged Trump to two debates and echoed Trump's "any time, any place" statement. This was quickly contradicted by Biden-Harris campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon, who clarified, "President Biden made his terms clear for two one-on-one debates, and Donald Trump accepted those terms. No more games. No more chaos, no more debate about debates."

This suggests that Biden may have overstepped his bounds and needed to be reined in by his team.

Given past experiences, the upcoming event is unlikely to be a traditional debate. Instead, it is expected to be a heated exchange of accusations, attracting viewers who typically do not watch debates.

However, Biden's demands for no audience and muted microphones may not work in his favor. Trump is known for his ability to command attention and use perceived bias against him to his advantage. This could resonate with viewers at home who do not suffer from severe Trump Derangement Syndrome.

While it is not clear if Trump has a strategic plan in place, it is worth noting that Biden's strategy to unsettle Trump could potentially backfire and harm Biden more than Trump.
