In a surprising turn of events, a confidential recording was leaked on Friday, revealing New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's criticism of President Joe Biden's border policies.

However, her ire was not directed at the administration's perceived failure to secure the border. Instead, she expressed frustration with Border Patrol agents for performing their duties, particularly in relation to drug seizures.

The origin of this leaked recording remains unclear. However, it is evident that this revelation will not aid in restoring the Governor's already tarnished credibility.

In the recording, Governor Lujan Grisham can be heard expressing her exasperation with the Border Patrol's actions. She accuses them of seizing cannabis shipments and detaining individuals, actions she claims are unprecedented. She suggests that the Border Patrol is acting against her interests and those of her state, and that she feels cornered by their actions and the subsequent media scrutiny.

"I'm going to put extra borders going and beyond, for the love of God, put him at the border in Sunland Park where I don't have a single border patrol agent, not one, and people pour over, and so I'm cranky with the secretary. He knew that was coming, he did not say a word to me," Lujan Grisham is heard saying in the recording.

The Governor's comments are remarkable, given the myriad of issues currently plaguing New Mexico and the Southern Border. Her primary concern appears to be the potential negative press she might receive as a result of the seizures. She expresses indignation that the Border Patrol, whom she labels as "bad," are performing their duties and intercepting cannabis shipments during vehicle stops.

It is important to note that the Governor seems to be referring to marijuana grown within the state, which the Democratic party has declared "legal" in New Mexico. However, federal law continues to prohibit it. It is not within the Border Patrol's jurisdiction to disregard federal law to accommodate a left-leaning governor's drug trade.

In the recording, Lujan Grisham also expresses her displeasure with a comment made by an unnamed secretary. "Here's what also the secretary said to me, just so you know: 'Oh, who cares? They make a lot of money.' Well, first of all, (inaudible) so I was really offended by that. Shame on him," she says.

The Governor's comments reveal a startling lack of awareness. She criticizes the Biden administration, not for its controversial pro-illegal immigration policies, but for the actions of Border Patrol agents who are merely upholding the laws as they currently stand. It appears that Lujan Grisham is more concerned with facilitating the drug trade in her state than with the welfare of her constituents, a telling commentary on her tenure as governor.

While it is true that New Mexico has legalized marijuana, it remains illegal at the federal level. As such, there is always the risk of seizure by federal agents. Border Patrol agents are under immense pressure and lack the resources to distinguish between those working for a "baby producer" and those working for drug cartels during a stop. The fact that Governor Lujan Grisham is outraged by this, rather than the ongoing border crisis, is indeed perplexing.
