The victims of the stabbing incident, which occurred on Sunday, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident was reported by News Nation's Ali Bradley, who posted a memo detailing the event. The memo read, "On April 14, 2024, at approximately 13:10 hours, [Border Patrol] was notified by Army Personnel that a migrant was seen stabbing another migrant south of the C-wire, by the river's edge."
The assailant, an illegal immigrant, was subsequently shot by a National Guardsman from Indiana. The foreign national then "fled back south to Mexico."

In response to the incident, the Indiana National Guard issued a statement saying, "The Indiana National Guard is aware of the incident that happened Sunday, April 14. We support and care for our soldiers and airmen who are supporting Operation Lone Star."
This incident is indicative of a broader pattern of escalating violence at the border, a situation that has worsened due to lax security measures under the Biden administration. In a similar incident in March, a group of illegal immigrants instigated a riot at the border, assaulting Border Patrol officers and dismantling a barrier.

The issue of illegal immigration and border security has become a major concern for Americans in recent years. Recent polls suggest that citizens believe former President Donald Trump managed the border situation more effectively than the current administration.
