After a meeting between the two at Mar-A-Lago, Trump referred to West as a "seriously troubled man" and belittled his chances of winning anything in the political realm. It appears that Trump senses at least something of a challenge from West, and he wants to nip that in the bud before it begins to blossom.
Fox News reports that Trump wrote the following on his Truth Social account about the meeting between the two men:
GONE TOO SOON: NYPD MOURNS FALLEN OFFICER AFTER FATAL CONFRONTATION, IS BIDEN'S AMERICA TO BLAME?
"So I help a seriously troubled man, who just happens to be black, Ye (Kanye West), who has been decimated in his business and virtually everything else, and who has always been good to me, by allowing his request for a meeting at Mar-a-Lago, alone, so that I can give him very much needed 'advice',"

Many Jewish leaders, including David Friedman, who was Trump's Ambassador to Israel, have been critical of Trump taking meetings with West at all after many antisemitic comments made by West on his public accounts recently.

Ye provided his first 2024 Presidential campaign video on Thursday, in which he debriefed all that happened while he was at Mar-A-Lago. He spoke about how he feels that the thing that bothered Trump the most was the fact that Ye suggested that Trump could run as his Vice-President. The former President was not interested in hearing about that recommendation. He is going for President again or nothing else.

Ye continued by saying that he is someone who loves Donald Trump, and he says that he asked the former President why he didn't free the people arrested for their actions on January 6th. It should be noted that the vast majority of those arrested for January 6th actions were arrested after Trump was no longer President.

There is certainly a lot of back and forth between the two men, and Ye even says that Trump referred to Kim Kardashian with some very hateful language. Ye was offended by this because Kim is the mother of his children.
However, he and Trump continue to spar as each seeks to put themselves in a position where they are fighting it out for the 2024 nomination. Currently, Ye is considered an extreme long-shot candidate (if he is taking it seriously), while Trump remains a front-runner.
