Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will talk at next month's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), according to group chairman Matt Schlapp.

Schlapp on Monday tweeted out that Orbán will appear at this year's conference Aug. 4-7 in Dallas.

Orbán came to a CPAC summit in May in Budapest, Hungary, where he submitted recommendations for conservatives to attain and stay in power.

Noting his comments then, Orbán announced that conservative media networks are the best way to confront the left's agenda. He stated Tucker Carlson's prime-time show should be broadcast "24/7."

In an announcement to The Hill, CPAC hailed Orbán as the "leading voice" in Europe, stating he's fighting for his fellow Hungarians and "everyone [else] who believes in national sovereignty."

"[Orbán] and President Trump forged a special relationship, since they both understand that we should not be controlled by the [United Nations], the [European Union], radical, woke corporatists or the billionaires who think regular people cannot be trusted to make their own decisions," according to the CPAC announcement.

"We are looking forward to Prime Minister Orbán explaining to our CPAC audience and to people around the world how he is successfully fighting the radical Left in Europe," the statement went on.

In April, Orbán posted an electoral victory in Hungary that secured his fourth term as prime minister.

Trump has repeatedly praised Orbán’s authoritarian leadership style and sent a video message that was played at the CPAC Hungary event in May.

Orbán has overseen a significant level of democratic backsliding throughout his 12 years in power. Within months of becoming prime minister, Orbán had taken command of the judiciary and attacked the few financial institutions not under the authority of his far-right Fidesz Party.

American conservatives have increasingly fawned over Orbán’s achievements, which in recent years have included an attack on LGBTQ and gender equality—with some measures linked to the teaching of gender and sexuality in schools that closely repeat the “Don’t Say Gay” bill recently passed in Florida.

Central to everything Orbán does is the promotion of traditional family and Christian values, talking points that have now become a mainstay of the Republican Party’s message.
