A Somali refugee who is an Army veteran is looking to unseat "Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, come November.

Shukri Abdirahman, a Republican, fled the same socialist dictatorship as Omar, but the two stand dramatically opposed when it comes to preserving American democracy.

While Omar pushes a far-Left agenda on issues such as illegal immigration she deems "upsetting to see," Abdirahman is running to secure America's borders and defend law enforcement, according to the Iraq War veteran and mother of three.

Shukri Abdirahman, Minnesota mother of three, announced her bid to unseat the ‘Squad’ member earlier this week and spoke to "Fox & Friends First" co-host Todd Piro regarding her effort to represent the 5th Congressional District as a Republican. She said Omar's far-Left agenda is "upsetting to see" when it comes to illegal immigration. "I gave my life to this country for 10 and a half years, I put my life on the line for the ideals of America, the America that I got used to, the America that I was proud to put my life on the line and I came here legally as a refugee," Abdirahman said.

During her journey from Somalia, Abdirahman spent time in the "slums of Kenya" and, after three years, entered the United States legally at 13 years old by following the proper vetting procedures, according to a report.

"Now, you have open borders that we don't know who's crossing, no one is getting vetted," she said. "We don't know how dangerous those people are to our livelihoods." "I don't believe that vetting is racist," Abdirahman stated. "I don't believe securing our borders are racist. People need to come the right way, and our nation needs to be kept safe."

After the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu, often referred to as Black Hawk Down, Abdirahman sensed a calling to serve the U.S. and joined the Army, she expressed. She served in the military for over a decade.

"All our politicians, government leaders have a responsibility to protect our sovereign nation and our people," according to Abdirahman.

Omar announced her plans to seek reelection in the 2022 midterm elections earlier this week.

When I first ran for this office there was one thing I kept coming back to. Something I said to myself and to the voters over and over: I believe that a better world is possible. I still believe that," Omar, who represents the 5th Congressional District in Minnesota, said in a statement announcing her re-election, WCCO reported.
