In an interview that aired Sunday night, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. said that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top disease specialist in the U.S., has to be fired after last week's revelation that the National Institutes of Health-funded gain-of-function research on the coronavirus.

Paul was interviewed by Axios and mentioned a letter from the NIH to Ranking Member Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., that admitted to a "limited experiment" which tested if "spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model," which experts say contradict Fauci's long-held claim.

"He [Fauci] should be fired," Paul announced. He went on, "just for lack of judgment if nothing else."

Paul announced that Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will probably never admit that he lied.

"He's going to continue to disassemble and try to work around the truth and massage the truth," he announced.

Mike Allen, the interviewer for Axios, told Paul that it is doubtful that President Biden would fire Fauci. Paul explained that he would be content with investigating the gain-of-function research that he has been calling on for months.

Fauci on Sunday told ABC News' "This Week" he disagreed with Paul.

"Neither I nor Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the NIH, lied or misled about what we've done," he announced. Fauci said it's "molecularly impossible for those viruses that were worked on to turn into SARS-CoV-2."

Meanwhile, Fauci faces calls from a bipartisan collection of legislators to respond to accusations that his National Institutes of Health division provided a grant to a lab in Tunisia to torture and kill dozens of beagle puppies for twisted scientific experiments.

"According to documents obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request by taxpayer watchdog group White Coat Waste Project, and subsequent media coverage from October 2018 until February 2019, NIAID spent $1.68 million in taxpayer funds on drug tests involving 44 beagle puppies," the letter on Thursday reads.

The White Coat Waste Project report insisted that the researchers locked the dogs in cages with hungry sand flies so that the insects could eat them alive.
