The ongoing feud between Ron DeSantis, Republican Governor of Florida and possible future President of the United States, and the Disney Corporation has taken an exciting turn.

The once and current CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, seems to have expressed regret that the company picked a fight with the state of Florida over education reform, falsely referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. According to Breitbart, DeSantis is having none of it.

“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is firing back at the Walt Disney Company’s returning CEO, Bob Iger, who lamented the entertainment giant was somehow unwillingly ‘dragged’ into a political fight in the Sunshine State over the ‘Parental Rights in Education’ bill.”

The bill banned, among other things, frank discussions on sexuality with age-inappropriate children. Disney and other progressive institutions and people claimed that the legislation is biased against the LGBTQ community.

DeSantis offered his retort on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show. The program started with a video of Bob Iger trying to back away from his predecessor, Bob Chapek, and his woke-laden foray into sexual identity politics. He said, “I was sorry to see us dragged into that battle. And I have no idea exactly what its ramifications are in terms of the business itself.

“What I can say is, the state of Florida has been important to us for a long time, and we have been very important to the state of Florida. That is something I’m extremely mindful of and will articulate if I get the chance.”

Iger has a right to be worried. Since the company entered the culture war, Disney stock prices have taken a plunge. The company’s spending on questionable, family-unfriendly content on its streaming service has not helped matters either.

DeSantis responded to Iger’s remarks. “We didn’t drag them in, Tucker. They went in on their own, and not only opposed the bill. They threatened to get it repealed.”

Last March, Disney, once known for its theme parks, family-friendly movies, and TV shows, stated that the company wanted the Parental Rights in Education bill repealed.

DeSantis said, “These are parents’ rights, important policies in our state that are very popular,” the governor added. “And so they brought this on themselves. All we did was stand up for what’s right. And, yes, they’re a big, powerful company. But you know what? We stand up for our folks. And I don’t care what a Burbank-based California company says about our laws.”

In other words, DeSantis to Disney: No quarter.
