According to the New York Post, Maxwell's lawyer, Bobby Sternheim, announced Saturday that "Ghislaine Maxwell is on suicide watch — but isn’t really suicidal." Sternheim argues that Maxwell was put in solitary confinement on placed on suicide watch "without justification," adding "She [Maxwell] is not suicidal." He continues that Maxwell's June 28th sentencing, where she will face the possibility of up to 55 years in jail, may need to be delayed.
In a letter to U.S. Circuit Judge Alison Nathan Sternheim claimed that, "If Ms. Maxwell remains on suicide watch, is prohibited from reviewing legal materials prior to sentencing, becomes sleep-deprived, and is denied sufficient time to meet with and confer with counsel, we will be formally moving on Monday for an adjournment."

Maxwell was a concupiscible accomplice in Jeffrey Epstein's child molestation and abuse and was found guilty of five of six counts reflecting her help to the man who ran a pedophile island. Before Maxwell and Epstein's fall from grace they were beloved socialites who cozied up to elites like Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, and the Clintons.

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and met charges for decades long accusations of child sexual abuse and trafficking when he was discovered dead in his jail cell in April of 2019. Epstein's death was ruled a suicide yet all sides of the isle have voiced speculation or completely denied the narrative that Epstein killed himself. With the cameras outside of Epstein's cell conveniently not working, the internet coined the now infamous meme, "Epstein didn't kill himself."

Like Maxwell, Epstein was placed on suicide watch though he was removed only days before he was allegedly found hanging in his jail cell. After news broke of Maxwell being placed on suicide watch, many online were quick to predict an Epstein-esque fate for her stating, "Ghislaine Maxwell didn't kill herself."
Maxwell's family has further shown fears that she may face the same fate as Epstein. Maxwell's sentencing is still set for Tuesday, June 28th, 2022.
Her lawyers on Friday requested Nathan to bar four accusers from providing victim impact announcements at the sentencing hearing tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, claiming that they were adults when they encountered Maxwell and therefore did not have the right to speak at the proceeding.
