"The Fake News Media cannot stand the fact that so many people in our Country know the truth, that the 2020 Election was rigged and stolen, yet almost every article written contains the words the 'Big Lie' or 'unsubstantiated facts,' etc., always trying to demean the real results," the statement published by Trump's Save America PAC started.
Trump announced that he was "willing to challenge the heads of various papers or even far-Left politicians" and called voter inconsistencies and fraud that plagued certain states "the real Big Lie."

He continued that the "highly partisan Unselect Committee of Democrats" refused to look into what possibly caused the January 6th protest and announced that it may have been because of the November election’s irregularities.
The former President then singled out specific states, like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and New Hampshire. Trump included New Mexico in the list of states where he accused the Democrat secretary of state of unconstitutionally altering the state's voting laws without legislative approval right before the election. He then added that these changes made it "virtually impossible" for the Republican to win.

The announcement concluded with a reiteration of the debate challenge, with Trump stating that "it will be a ratings bonanza for television!"

Since the 2020 election, many of these states have either passed or proposed new election reform laws, like Georgia's Election Integrity Act signed into law by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in March.
Meanwhile, Republican governors are declaring their independence from the former President and present party leaders in Washington.

In some cases, the governors are reacting to Trump's meddling in their home state politics. We have Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, who is term-limited though has supported a candidate to succeed him. Trump has supported someone else, stating that Hogan himself is "toxic" and "a Republican in name only [who] has been terrible for our country and against the America First Movement."

Asked regarding Trump taking sides, Hogan replied: "I'd prefer endorsements from people who didn't lose Maryland by 33 points," referring to Trump's blowout loss to Democrat Joe Biden in the state last year.
This particular feud is not new. Hogan has been critical of Trump for years and denounced him for provoking the crowd that marched on the Capitol on Jan. 6.
