ABC News got an audio recording from Tuesday's phone call between the White House and governors across the US. Tuesday's conversation was regarding providing the vaccine to kids as young as 5 to 11-years-old.
"We've secured plenty of supply, and we'll be putting in place an allocation, ordering and distribution system similar to what we've used for the other vaccines," announced Jeff Zients, a member of the Biden administration's COVID team.
Pfizer and BioNTech submitted a formal request for FDA approval. In terms of data, they performed a clinical trial revealing compatible positive results in immune responses for a trial of 2268 participants ages 5 to 11 given a third of the standard 30-microgram dose.

The White House is banking on approval from the FDA and CDC to provide the COVID vaccine to kids, having already bought 65 million doses from Pfizer. If passed, 100-dose packs of the Pfizer vaccine would be ready to go to medical institutions nationwide.

Jeff Zients emphasized the anticipated opening rush for demand from parents to get their kids vaccinated. "All of us must recognize that parents have been waiting for a pediatric vaccine for a long time, so they will understandably be very eager to get their kids vaccinated, or kids vaccinated right away," he announced.

According to CNBC, the White House is set to roll out vaccines as soon as November. They further asked state governors to prepare outreach and education programs to encourage people to get the shot.
At the start of October, California Governor Gavin Newsom attempted to be ahead of everyone else by making the pediatric COVID vaccine mandatory for all school kids, in advance of the FDA and CDC's approval.
Whether parents will welcome the vaccines for their kids is still a mystery and could depend upon details published in the coming weeks on the clinical trial. However, in a September poll, the Kaiser Family Foundation discovered that approximately a third of parents with kids ages 5-11 were willing to vaccinate their kids right away, while another third wanted to "wait and see." The figures described a slight uptick in vaccine acceptance among parents of elementary-school-aged kids since July.

Overall, children are still deemed significantly less likely than adults to undergo bad outcomes from COVID-19. According to an estimate by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association, less than 2% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in hospitalization.
