The grandmother and her granddaughter were reportedly at the school for a behavioral meeting when the incident occurred. Upon spotting a girl with whom her granddaughter had a conflict, the grandmother and her granddaughter allegedly followed the girl into a bathroom. The grandmother is accused of restraining the girl while her granddaughter assaulted her.
Jamal Bransford, a spokesperson for McMonagle Elementary School, assured in a statement to WNEM that no other children were harmed during the incident. The school administration is currently investigating how the grandmother was able to bypass security protocols and gain unauthorized access to the school premises.

"On Thursday, April 18 an unfortunate incident transpired at McMonagle Elementary School involving a grandparent of a student who managed to circumvent security protocols and gain unauthorized access to the school premises," Bransford stated. He further emphasized, "The Mt. Morris Township Police Department immediately investigated this incident. It is crucial to emphasize that no other children in the school were involved or harmed during this incident."

Bransford also expressed the school's commitment to student safety, stating, "The safety and security of our students are topmost concern. Our school administration is diligently implementing all necessary measures to ensure that such breaches of security are prevented in the future."

Following the incident, the grandmother was arrested and is currently being held at the Genesee County Jail.
