This is an exciting story with a crazy plot twist.

At the mouth of the Columbia River, a massive wave rolled over a beautiful yacht. The Coast Guard rescued a man aboard, but they saved a wanted man. Police were searching for Jericho Labonte, a 35-year-old man, for two days when he was rescued. However, that doesn’t mean that he wound up in police custody.

Jericho is accused of leaving a fish in a house in Astoria, Oregon. The house was in the 1985 movie “The Goonies.”

According to Fox News, “According to Astoria Police Chief Stacy Kelly, an acquaintance alerted the authorities to a video he posted on social media of himself leaving the fish at the house and then dancing around the property. It is believed that the fish was caught locally because a person reported having taken him fishing.”

Labonte is from British Columbia, where he is also a wanted man. He has cases open in British Columbia involving failure to comply, criminal harassment, and mischief.

A mayday call came in at around 10 AM regarding the rolled yacht. Then, the Coast Guard sent in life rescue boats and an aircrew. However, the surf was so violent that rescuing Labonte with a ship was too risky. The only option was to send a rescue swimmer into the water to rescue the man. The Coast Guard posted videos of the incredible rescue on social media.

After his remarkable rescue, Labonte was transferred to a hospital to check for injuries and be treated for possibly having mild hypothermia. However, he was quickly released from the facility, which just so happened to be before they discovered he was a wanted man. On Friday night, police continued to search for him. The owner of the yacht reported it stolen on Friday as well.
