Some elected Republicans have been focused on investigating the President's son Hunter Biden because they feel there is more to go off of with investigating Hunter. However, Cruz says he would like to keep all eyes on the President and the things he allegedly did.
"It's not about the poor schlub who got caught. It's about the boss," reported Fox News as they quoted Senator Cruz. In other words, Cruz wants to ensure that his colleagues take advantage of the opportunity to go after Joe Biden himself.

Republicans have stated that Joe Biden and many of his family members have traded off the family name to get special treatment when pursuing business deals. If they work to get those business deals based on the family name, they may commit corruption to get better business deals.

Cruz provided this answer to Fox News about why he wants to stay on target when going after the President:
"The reason we should talk about it, and the reason why the corporate media and the Democrats desperately don't want to talk about it, is there is growing evidence of corruption from Joe Biden when he was vice president of the United States... And now when he's President of the United States, personally enriching himself enriching his family by selling official favors to enemies, hostile foreign governments — that is an issue of the highest importance."

There are also some Republicans that fear that if they spend some time looking at Hunter Biden, they could lose the nation's attention before they can get after Joe Biden.
The worst thing that could happen at a time like this would be for the Republicans to put everything right on the goalline only to discover that they cannot get the investigation completed when they need to because they can't keep it.
